The graph below shows the different modes of transport used to travel to and from work in one European city in 1950, 1970 and 1990.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.
You should write at least 150 words.

The bar provides information on the modes of transport used by people in a European city to commute between work and home. The chart compares the percentages of people traveling by bus, car, bike or on foot in 1950, 1970 and 1990.
The most obvious trend is the rise of car use in favour of non-motorised transport. In 1950, cars were used by only around 5% of travelers but this figures had risen to around 35% by 1990. Travel by bike dropped from 27% to 5% in the period while the numbers of people who walked to work plummeted from 35% to 6%.
The figures for commuters using buses do not show a clear trend. In 1950 about 15% of people went to work by bus. This figure rose to 27% in 1970 but then dropped back to around 15% again in 1990.
